How can we break out of the culture of disposal encouraged by fast moving consumer goods?

By allowing for easy personalisation and maintenance and being made from valuable materials this project aims to foster a positive relationship with the user encouraging emotional investment. The design is comprised of a central aluminium rod, with interchangeable rings surrounding it, secured by brass caps on both ends. The bottom brass cap is held in place by an interference fit and the top collar screws onto a thread cut into the top of the aluminium rod.

The robustness of the handle’s design, the quality of its materials and the ability of the rings to be easily replaced drastically increase the product’s lifetime.

The product has a library of rings of varying materials and geometry to allow the user to assemble a customised product that suits them both aesthetically and functionally.
